The Pakistan Navy League solemnly remembers the life and legacy of Rear Admiral Pervaiz Asghar HI(M) (Retd), (P No 1452) who passed away on 31 July 2024 leaving avoid in our Navy League community. Born in May 1951, he joined the Navy in 1970 and was commissionedin June 1973.
A soft spoken, upright and well respected personality, his nearly four-decade career in the Pakistan Navy was marked by exceptional service and leadership including an admirable series of command and staff appointments. His major appointments included command of Fast AttackCraft, two major ships (an ex-USN Brooke Class Destroyer andan ex-RN Type 21 Frigate), the 25th Destroyer Squadron and Commandant of the PN professional schools complex at BAHADUR.
Known for his leadership and superior writing skills, his prowess in Naval and maritime defense matters was exemplified through his writings, lauded by all and sundry. Beyond his active service, RearAdmiral Asghar continued to shape Pakistan's maritimelandscape as the Director General of the National Centrefor Maritime Policy Research at Bahria University Karachi Campus. His insightful articles and publications on maritime, naval, and national security issues cemented his role as a thought leader in our field and are referred to as authentic information and noteworthy research contribution.
The Pakistan Navy League honors Rear AdmiralAsghar's invaluable contributions to our nation's naval strength and maritime policy. His legacy will continue to guide and inspire future generations of naval officers and maritime professionals.
