In keeping with the tradition of visiting veteran naval officers, a delegation from the Navy League, led by Commodore  T. Najmi (Rtd) President, Navy League), visited the residence of Admiral Abid Mujtaba at NHS Karsaz on February 23, 2025. The visiting members included Vice Admiral Irfan Ahmed (Rtd), Rear Admiral  Ejaz Hussain (Rtd), Captain G. Mujtaba (Rtd) and Rear Admiral  Syed A. Baqar (Rtd).

During the visit, the delegation met Mrs. Mujtaba and the Admiral’s son, as Admiral Mujtaba, now in his advanced years, is not keeping well.

Admiral Mujtaba’s distinguished career began when he joined the Pakistan Navy as a cadet in 1957 and was commissioned as a Sub-Lieutenant in 1960. His brilliance was evident from the outset, as he graduated with flying colors, achieving the unparalleled distinction of earning the Queen’s Gold Medal—an honor never before awarded to a non-British officer.

In 1960, he embarked on the Constructor Course, graduating as a Naval Constructor in 1965, after which he was posted to PN Dockyard. Over the years, he served in every rank within Dockyard, eventually rising to the esteemed positions of Managing Director of Dockyard and Commander Logistics (COMLOG).

Among his many accomplishments, he played a pivotal role in overseeing the first-ever extended refit of the submarine HANGOR, a task he completed to the full satisfaction of Naval Headquarters. Prior to this, Admiral Mujtaba was a key member of the Daphne-class submarine construction project team in France, where he not only mastered the French language but also led the translation of thousands of submarine design drawings into English—an extraordinary feat that significantly contributed to the project’s success.

At Naval Headquarters, he was entrusted with another monumental task: overseeing the construction of Ormara Naval Harbour, a critical project for the Pakistan Navy’s infrastructure. His expertise and leadership set a benchmark in the field of naval construction and logistics. A graduate of the National Defence College (NDC), Admiral Mujtaba’s service has left an indelible mark on the Pakistan Navy. His unwavering dedication, technical expertise, and leadership have made him an invaluable asset to his branch and the Navy at large.

The Navy League delegation expressed their deepest respect for his contributions and extended their heartfelt wishes for his well-being and recovery in these challenging times.
